Alvin Leigh Hammett, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of Christ, passed away in LaFollette, Tennessee, surrounded by family. Born to Alvin Lewis Hammett and Juanita Waters Hammett, Alvin lived a life marked by service, devotion, and love for both his Lord and those around him.

After graduating from high school in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Alvin proudly served his country from 1986 to 1991 in the United States Navy as a Seabee, including service during the Gulf War. Following his military career, he served as a South Carolina State Trooper for 25 years in Greenville, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and community alike.
Alvin’s greatest passion, however, was his deep and unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ. His faith guided every part of his life, from the way he served others to the love and grace he extended to family and friends. He shared his testimony freely, prayed earnestly, and lived in a way that pointed others to the hope he had in his Savior.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah Ruggles Hammett; his children Aaron Barker, Kyle Barker, Travis Huffman, Luke Huffman, LeAnn Cooper, and Ryan Mallonee; and his nine beloved grandchildren, whose lives were brightened by his warmth, humor, and wisdom.
Upon retiring, Alvin settled in LaFollette, Tennessee, where he enjoyed fellowship with his church family, time with loved ones, and the simple joys of life.

Alvin’s legacy is one of honor, courage, faith, and deep love for his family. His presence will be dearly missed, but his memory and example will live on in the hearts of all who knew him — and his hope in Christ assures us that this is not goodbye, but “see you later.”
