Zig, as he was known by his family and friends, was born September 4, 1955 in Marshall,
Michigan to George David “Dave” and Judith Ann (Short) Campbell. Zig was raised in Olivet,
Michigan where he attended and graduated from Olivet High School. Zig played football in high
school and was a member of the Olivet High School Marching Band playing the trumpet. Zig
enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle, loved his corvette and raced stock cars for a number of
years. He also enjoyed playing golf and classic rock and roll!
Zig married Irene Tamez Link on October 19, 1992 and they share four children together, Shelby
Kay Campbell, Laine Ranee Courtright, Jeremy Tamez and William “Billy” Link. They were
blessed with 3 granddaughters and 2 grandsons, as well as 2 great granddaughters. Zig retired
from Autocam Corporation on December 31, 2019.
Zig was preceded in death by his parents, George “Dave” and Judith Ann Campbell, his in-laws,
Israel and Jovita Tamez, grandparents and many other aunts and uncles and a nephew.
Zig is survived by his wife, Irene Tamez Campbell, his children, Shelby Campbell, Laine
Courtright, Jeremy (Amy) Tamez and William “Billy” Link, his sister; Mary Sue (Robert)
Coppernoll, brothers; Timothy (Margaret) Campbell, George “Joe” Campbell, sisters; Sally
(Randy) Fritz, Sonia (Jed) Thorndyke, brothers; Stephen Campbell, Gregory (Susan) Campbell
and Michael Campbell; his sisters-in-law, Mary Tamez, Irma (Chris) Guerra, Ilda (Steve)
Williams, and brother-in-law, Mike (Hope) Tamez, 5 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters,
plus many nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements will be handled by Dogwood Cremation of Powell, Tennessee. A memorial
service will be held in the Spring/Early Summer in Michigan.
