Gary Lee Burchell, 76, of Knoxville passed away May 27, 2025. Gary was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He is preceded in death by parents Howard & Annalee Burchell, sister Donna Johnson, granddaughter Ava Shultz. Gary is survived by brother Buddy Burchell, daughters Jennifer Bryant & Kristina Shultz, son Clint Burchell, 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many others that loved him. Service will be held in the East Tn state Veterans Cemetery on June 24th at 2pm.

Samuel Gamble

Samuel Gamble, age 81, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully at this home on May 27th, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reece and Dorothy Gamble and sister, Emily Lawson. He is survived by his daughters, Kelly (Mark) Payne and Susan (Dan) Prince. Brothers, John (Susan) Gamble, Bob Gamble and brother-in-law Larry Lawson. His grandchildren, Rebekah (Stephen) Baker, Cole (Kim) Patrick, Jordan (Morgan) Payne, Makenna Helton, Alexus Prince, Hunter Prince and eight great grandchildren. Linda Smith

Linda Smith, age 66, of Knoxville, passed away tragically in a car accident on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Born on June 3, 1958, Linda dedicated many years of her life working in the cafeteria at UT Medical Center, where she was known for her warm smile and kind heart. She was a beloved mother to two daughters, Miranda Smith (Shannon) and Stephanie Smith, and a proud grandmother to Elijah, Shannon, Jr., Tobias, and Vada.

Linda had a deep love for animals, especially her cats, and was a loyal friend to many. She cherished time with her family and found great joy in her trips to the beach, where she felt most at peace.

Above all, Linda had a quiet but steady faith and a heart full of compassion. Though her passing leaves an ache in the hearts of those who loved her, we take comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord, at peace and surrounded by everlasting love.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, with service following at, Redemption Life Church, 8109 Sharp Rd., Powell, TN 37849. Michael Cox will be Officiating.

Donna Michelle Tallent (née Coward)

Donna Michelle Tallent (née Coward), age 46, passed away on April 29, 2025, in Anderson County, Tennessee.

Born on August 24, 1978, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Donna lived a life marked by resilience, devotion to family, and a deep-rooted faith. Donna was the beloved daughter of Walter Coward and the late Carolyn Coward. She shared a close bond with her siblings – her sister Tracy Sluder and partner Robert, and her brother Joshua Coward and partner Cola. Her strength and loyalty were defining traits that left a lasting impression on those who knew her. 

A devoted mother, Donna leaves behind her cherished children: son Andrew Foust and his partner Samantha, and daughter Abby Longoria. Her love for them was unwavering and evident in every aspect of her life. She also shared a meaningful relationship with her significant other, Eric Smith.

Donna’s Christian faith was a guiding light throughout her life. It sustained her through boht joyful moments and difficult trials – including her courageous battle as a cancer survivor. Her strength during that time inspired many around her.  She found joy in the simple pleasures of life  especially when surrounded by family. Donna has a passion for baking and candy making, often filling her home with the comforting aromas of homemade treats. These moments became treasured memories for those fortunate enough to share them with her.  Organized and protective by nature, Donna was known for being someone others could count on. Whether planning family gatherings or offering support during hard times, she brought structure and warmth wherever she went.  May Donna Michelle Tallent’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life will be held on May 17, 2025, from 1 to 2:30 pm at Blessed Hope Baptist Church 109 Blacksferry Road. Food will be provided after the service by Apple Blossom Cafe.

Vicki Washburn Chapman

Vicki Washburn Chapman was born May 23, 1954 to Troy & Ann Washburn in Victoria, Texas.

An Air Force brat, Vicki lived in England, Germany, Arizona, & Virginia before finally settling in Tennessee. She graduated from Farragut High School in 1972. She married her husband, Mike in 1986 & started their life in the Claxton Community with their two sons. Vicki had various jobs over the years including administrative assistant at her parent’s business, Ridge Metals, but ultimately retired from Y12 Federal Credit Union where she was known as everyone’s “favorite teller”. Before passing, Vicki enjoyed spending time with her chickens, in her garden, and hunting for yard sale treasures. You could find her at Aspire Park with her grandchildren enjoying beautiful sunny days.

Vicki is survived by sons Cory (wife Kristen) and Casey (wife Jimmye) and beloved grandchildren Sam, Seeley, Sloane, Caldwell, & Cameron, her brothers Scott & Brian Washburn, and best friend, Roni Stubbs.

A Celebration of Life will be held, Saturday, May 10th from at Highland View Church in Oak Ridge from 3-5pm.

Thomas Murray

Thomas Shayne Murray (55) of Louisville, TN passed away peacefully on April 4. 2025 at home after a hard fight with cancer. Shayne was born at Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston, TX to Rebecca Sue Murray and Albert Thomas Murray. Shayne was an OTR truck driver for 30 years. He loved traveling through the US and Canada. He loved the outdoors, loved going to Lady VOLS basketball games with his good friend Stewart Moen. His friend of 30 years and like a brother Scott(Animal) McHenry.

He is survived by his 3 children Cheri Murray of Knoxville, Jolienne, Colton and Wyatt Murray of Madisonville. He loved his children very much, they were his world!!! Brothers and Sisters: Vince and Jonathon Howson of Friendsville, Carol McHenry of Louisville, Candace Nickol Carver and Tonya Lynne McKay of Houston, TX. Many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, many extended loving family and friends.

Jason Barnes

Jason Michael Barnes, 45, of Powell – Claxton, TN passed away on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025, at Tennova Turkey Creek Medical Center in Farragut, TN. He was born in Oak Ridge, TN on April 5th, 1979. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Jason was a lifelong resident of Powell, TN and was widely known in the greater Knoxville, TN area. Jason graduated from Clinton High School and was a part of the Class of 1997. He also attended the Universal Technical Institute receiving an associate’s degree in automotive technology. Jason was also an ASE Certified Mechanic. Throughout his life Jason had many jobs but he was most proud of his time at his most recent work as a Field Technician for JDC Technical Services, Inc. He was known for his love of laughter and had the ability to light up a room. Jason was a true comedic presence and the friends he made through the years were always lifelong. He also was an avid outdoorsman, spending most of his weekend’s off-roading his ATVs through the many trails cut into the mountains of Royal Blue, TN. Jason could be described as an adventurous and spontaneous spirit, oftentimes planning those same off-roading trips the night before. In addition to his love of off-roading, he also enjoyed singing and playing music, kayaking, fishing, camping and enjoyed good company with his friends and family. In his younger years, Jason was a member of two rock bands named “Wynterborne” and “Mind Pollution”. Jason was mostly a drummer but did a little bit of everything during his band days. Jason’s band played from Michigan to Arizona and spent a considerable part of his life playing and writing music.

Jason is survived by his loving father and mother, Harold Frank Barnes and Deborah “Debbie” Lynn Barnes (Davis) of Powell, TN; his fiancé, Kendra Renee Ball of Powell, TN; brother, Brian Barnes and fiancé Harley Hancook Singletary of Powell, TN; Jason had no biological children but claimed all of the following, son, Jacob McMahan of Powell, TN; daughter, Kassy Myers of Powell, TN; grandsons, Emmit Myers and Asher Myers; and grand-daughter, Raleigh McMahan-Rivera, and many extended friends and family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the management & staff of Pinnacle Assisted Living for the catering being provided at the celebration of life services and we only ask if you will bring your own drinks. In honor of Jason’s memory, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 12th, 2025 at Eagle Rock Campground’s Outdoor Pavilion, 805 Luther Siebers Blvd, Pioneer, TN 37847. Officiating the services will be Jason’s lifelong friend Owen Livingston. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Melton of Powell, TN, and Chris Mayes of Powell, TN.
