Raymond Bruce Dorsey Jr., age 68 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Proceeded in death by parents, Raymond Dorsey Sr; Helen Gertrude Sherwood Dorsey Harris (Hoyit); Gary Lynn Dorsey. Survivors include wife, Pamela Cooper Dorsey; son Jeffrey Dorsey; Amy Blankenship (Bo); grandchildren Riley Dorsey; Tyler Blankenship all of Maryville. Many special friends, nieces and nephews.
Despite his sickness, Raymond fought a good fight for 7 years. He was an inspiration to many. He was ready to meet Jesus and be done with all the suffering. He was a firefighter for 20 plus years and farmed most of his life. He could often be found in the farm shop working on equipment. Raymond was a kind, compassionate and generous man. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when someone was in need- regardless of what the circumstance might be. Camping was the love of his and Pam’s life- they met many friends across the entire United States.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 9th, 2022, at Alcoa-Maryville Church of God, with Reverend Paul Dyar officiating. Receiving of friends will be from 2:00 to 3:00 with service held immediately afterwards. Refreshments will be served for family and friends after the service.
