Sammy Wayne Calloway
December 13, 1946 – October 1, 2026
Sammy Wayne Calloway, 79, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on October 1, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply.
Sam was born on December 13, 1946, in Harlan, Kentucky. He lived a life filled with love for his family, the outdoors, and the simple things that brought him the most joy.
Anyone who knew Sam knew how much he loved hunting and fishing. Some of his happiest days were spent in the woods waiting on a deer, sitting by the water with a fishing pole in his hand, or sharing stories from hunting and fishing trips through the years. These weren’t simply hobbies to Sam—they were a way of life and a way he created countless memories with the people he loved.
Above all else, Sam was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He loved his family deeply and will always be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, storytelling, hardworking nature, and faith.
His family will forever cherish the memories they made together—hunting and fishing, sitting on the porch, gathering as a family, talking back and forth on the walkie-talkies, and spending time together at the lake house. These ordinary moments became some of the greatest memories and will now be treasured more than ever.
Sam is survived by his loving wife, Connie Calloway; his son, Troy Calloway and Jodi Calloway; his granddaughters, Paige Calloway and Aspen Calloway Chesney; Joshua Chesney; his great-granddaughter, Kenzlee Calloway; and his beloved dog and faithful companion, Harley #2.
He was preceded in death by beloved family members and friends who went before him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 16, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Timberlake Clubhouse, 8100 Harbor Cove Dr., Knoxville, TN 37938. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Sam’s life, share memories, and honor a man who meant so much to so many.
Though his chair may now sit empty and the woods may feel a little quieter, the lessons he taught, the stories he told, and the memories he made will live on forever. Every hunting season, every fishing trip, every visit to the lake, and every peaceful morning outdoors will remind us of the man we were so blessed to call family.
Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
