Tonda was born in Welch, West Virginia, to the late Jack Walker (Sunny) Brown and the late Bessie Parthina Blankenship. She later moved to Montgomery County, Virginia, where she started her family and became a Licensed Cosmetologist. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, loved to watch NASCAR racing, football, and her Hallmark movies, listen to music, and go fishing.
Above all, she was a devoted Mother to her sons. Tonda is best remembered by her infectious smile and satiric personality. Tonda is “unforgettable” and will be missed by many.
Those left to cherish her memories are her sons, Johnse Hatfield, of Knoxville, TN; Jeremy Hatfield (Lacee Ayers), of Elliston, VA; and Joshua Hatfield, of Christiansburg, VA. One brother, Michael (Tena) Brown, of Oceana, WV; her granddaughters, Cierra and Cassidy Hatfield, Kylie and Sophie Hatfield, and niece, Tanisha Frazier; Sissy Carolyn (Hatfield) and Bob Melton; another Sis Velma Hatfield; special friends, Connie Bowles, Katrina Phillips and her special Lil’ Buddy, Gunnar Taylor.
There will be a memorial service held for Tonda on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 4:00 PM at Wytheville First Church of God, 1135 Cove Road, Wytheville, VA, with Pastor Donn Sunshine officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 3 PM – 4 PM before the service.
