David Leroy Knisley, 74, from Dayton, Ohio, passed away in Knoxville, Tennessee, on November 14th, 2017.  David was preceded in death by his father, Harold Knisley; mother, Florence (Eileen) Liscar; stepfather, John Liscar; and brother, Ronald.  He is survived by his son, David; brothers, Daniel and Wayne; sister, Dianna Williamson; and longtime companion, Elizabeth.

Terral “Bubba” Layton, 71, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, December 27, 2017. While he will be sorely missed by his family and friends, his family is eternally grateful for wonderful moments spent together over the Christmas holiday and are thankful his days were filled with love and joy.

Bubba was loved by so many and often described as the kindest man anyone ever knew. He was a loving husband to Julie for 37 years and father to Aaron (Amanda) Layton, and step-father to Bevin (Patrick) Gresham. He was the most amazing Papaw to Grant, Hayden, and Audrey Gresham and centered his life around them after moving to Knoxville. He was always on the sidelines of sporting events and the one who would drop anything to run a forgotten lunch up to school or pick up someone who was sick. He shared his love of camping and woodwork with them and taught them so much. He adored his grandchildren as they adored him.

Bubba dedicated much of his life to his first true love, the Boy Scouts. A Scouter for over 55 years, a proud Eagle Scout, he loved the idea of “God and Country” and instilling these values in young men. He worked in the education of boys and leaders alike. He loved his days in the Order of the Arrow, his time on the Wood Badge Staff, and the various camping weekends and other Boy Scout activities. The day he was awarded the Silver Beaver was, perhaps, one of the happiest days of his life. He was always ready to serve in any capacity.

After retirement, he renewed his interest in woodwork and enjoyed gifting his efforts to friends and relatives. He loved building things for and with his grandchildren, especially. He enjoyed fishing and threaded many a worm on the hooks of his young people. There were many happy days in the woods on family campouts, his favorite activity. He and Julie were enjoying retirement and exploring the areas of East Tennessee.

There will be a Celebration of Life gathering on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in the community building at New Harvest Park, located at 4775 New Harvest Lane (off Washington Pike), Knoxville, TN. The family will greet friends from 10:00-11:00 AM, with a short period of prayer and sharing of memories to follow. We would love for you to join us.

In Loving Memory Of Linda (Dunn) Childress March 16, 1948, to January 30, 2018. Linda, 69, of Dayton, passed away and went to be with our lord and Savior.

She is survived by her sister, Betty Dodd; her son, Andrew Marshall; and daughter, Edna Whitby, Her grandchildren Brandon Whitby, Ashley, Corey and Chris, Mariah, Selena, Heather and April and cousins and Aunts. She is preceded in death by her dad, Arley Dunn, and her Mother, Hazel Hamby, both of Dayton. Her sons are John Marshall and Chris Marshall. Linda was born and raised in Dayton. She will be deeply missed. She was a loving Mom, Sister, and Grandmother. Go fly high, our sweet Angel. Until we meet again.

Hildegard R. Girard “Momma” Hilda Girard, 66, took her final breath to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 31st, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Girard; her parents, Iona and James Hedlund; her sister, Catherine Hedlund; and her brothers, Arvid and James Hedlund, Jr.

Services will be held on February 24, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Dayspring Church in Knoxville, TN.

Momma was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

Joe Lynn Goodman, 63 of Lake City, TN, went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2018. He was a graduate of Lake City High School Class of 1972. He served in the United States Air Force from 1972-1983 and was a mail carrier for the Unites States Postal Service in Oak Ridge, TN from 1984-2004. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles B Goodman, Sr. and Helen K. White Goodman. He is survived by daughter Lee Ann Carson, husband Kenneth, and granddaughter Shelby, of Heiskell, TN; and daughter Diana Machanoff and husband Zack. Siblings: Patricia LaBonte and husband Louis of Putnam, CT; Dennie Goodman of Clinton, TN; Charles B. Goodman, Jr of Andersonville, TN; Sharon Cox and husband Lynn of Heiskell, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Thursday, February 15, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. at Rocky Top United Methodist Church, 220 4th Street, Rocky Top, TN 37769.

On Sunday, February 25, 2018, Amy left this earthly life at the age of 42.

She is survived by her mother, Margaret Kidwell; father, John L. Kidwell; daughter Makenzie Webb; brother Greg Kidwell, fiancée Eli Pressley, several cousins, and close friends.  A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.

Nancy K. Hinkle, 56, passed away on February 28, 2018, after a 3 year battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rollin and Willie Lightfoot of Benton, TN. Nancy was a nursing instructor at Cleveland State Community College, Pellissippi State Community College, and Tennessee Wesleyan College.  She was also a nurse for Bradley Memorial Hospital and Woods Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Hinkle of Rockford, TN; stepdaughters, Clare and Calle Hinkle; Brother, Ronnie Lightfoot; Special friend and adopted daughter, Amber Patty; and many other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Maryville, TN, at 7 pm, with visitation starting at 5 pm.

Carla Marie Lawson Berry passed away on March 13, 2018. She was 54 years of age when she lost her battle with cancer. She leaves behind her husband, David Berry, and her two sons, Philip Lawson and Justin Strange. Five grandchildren: Cameron Lawson, Haven Lawson, Courtney Glisson, Brandon Terrell, and Hunter Hawkins. Her siblings are Renee and Billy Lawson. Two nephews, Ethan Ferguson and Brandon Lawson, one niece, and two daughters-in-law, Amy Strange and Angelina Lawson. Carla was a kind-hearted and giving soul who loved her family deeply. She tended to put her family’s needs before her own. She loved God and prayed daily for her family and others. She will be deeply missed but it is in everyone’s knowledge that she is now at peace with her brothers, parents, with her son in her arms, with the sunshine beaming on her face as she looks down on her family. Watching over and keeping her family safe.

Loving mother and grandmother, Scarlett Eckland Johnson, 75, of Louisville, TN, went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2018. Preceded in death by mother, Georgia Correll, father Jeffrey Gladden, sister Mary “Kitty” Baker, brother Anthony “Butch” Correll, and special friend Carl Grooms. Survivors include: son, Kevin Icenhower, daughter-in-law Vickie Icenhower, grandchildren.

Donald Bruce Vittetoe, age 83, of Rockford, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 19, 2018, in Morristown. Don was a member of Rockford Baptist Church, where he served as deacon; a veteran of the U.S. Army, and retired from Rockford Manufacturing Company.

Dale went to Heaven to be with God, his mother, Wanda Burnette, and his brother David Burnette on May 11th, 2018. He leaves behind Tracy Burnette, his son Devin Burnette, his daughter Hannah Burnette, his father Jack Burnette, and brother and sister in law Tony and Pauline Burnette. He had many family members and friends who loved him.

He will be dearly missed. Thank you for all your love and prayers. The family is having a celebration of life service at Lakewind Church on Tuesday, May 15, from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm, and the burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery at 2:45 pm on Wednesday, May 16th.

Yvonne Marie Cagley, born November 11, 1954, passed away at the family home in Knoxville, TN, on May 30, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Cagley; her parents, Wayne Nitzband, Kinuko McGhee, and Del Nitzband; her grandparents, Karl Daul, William Nitzband, and Emma Nitzband; and infant nieces, Emma and Violet Rankin.

She is survived by mother Marge Nitzband of Appleton, WI, grandmother Evelyn Daul of Richmond, VA, sons Jason Amburn of Knoxville, TN, Shane Huskey of Nashville TN, daughter Ashley Coppock of Knoxville, TN, grandchildren Colton Vandergriff and Alyssa Coppock both of Knoxville, TN, brother and sister in Law Bruce and Daniela Nitzband of Maryville, TN, brother Gary Nitzband of Maryville, TN, sister and brother in law Heidi and Robert Bennett of Brentwood, TN, brother and sister in law Tom and Sue Nitzband of Appleton, WI, and brother Jim Nitzband of Appleton, WI, sister and brother in law Ann and Jesse Rankin of Sturgeon Bay, WI, as well as several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church at 100 S. Rankin Rd. Alcoa, TN 37701 Friday June 8, 2018 from 5 until 8.
